9/11: A Tale of Two Towers

Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 8 pm

"It was just a regular day, or so we thought. 8:46 is when the day changed."

-Dave Donovan, WTC survivor

September 11, 2001, is a day in American history that no one will forget. However, for those who encountered firsthand the horrific acts of terrorism on the World Trade Center, this is a day they wish could be forgotten. 9/11: A Tale of Two Towers is a two-part documentary that recounts the experiences of people working in two offices in the World Trade Center at the time of the attacks.

One group of survivors was employed by May Davis above the impact point on the 87th floor of the North Tower. The other group of survivors from Euro Brokers, was located on the 84th floor of the South Tower. Painful, detailed accounts are given recalling the traumatic events that transpired after the two planes had smashed into the buildings. Joanne, from May Davis remembers running and running out of her tower until she saw a priest on the side of the road. She began saying the "Hail Mary" with him, until she was knocked unconscious by falling debris. When she awoke, everyone surrounding her was dead.

Other employees from both May Davis and Euro Brokers recall the horrific scenes they encountered while trying to escape the doomed towers. After both towers had fallen, it looked like a scene from a nuclear war. No one knew who was dead or alive. Thirteen out of the 14 employees from May Davis survived, however, 61 employees from Euro Brokers perished.

Owen May, chairman of May Davis, said the emotional recovery after the attacks was extremely difficult and "we all went through stages." May Davis had on-sight counselors for three months. Nevertheless, the pain and grief of Owen Mays remaining employees is still evident.

This commemorative miniseries focuses on the personal aspects rather than the national scope of the tragedy. In addition, computer animation helps viewers to see the impact points and the effect they had on the buildings and on people trying to evacuate the two towers.
